The Ten Speed story is one of friendship and a shared love of music. Over the years, the guys in the band have created memories and forged lifelong bonds. We’ve laughed a ton and supported each other through various valleys. Seasons of life have led each of us in and out of various bands but friendships among members, present and past, remains strong. Musically, we love the process. We don’t hear music as background noise but rather listen intently to get every ounce out of a song. We take this passion into rehearsals, writing sessions, and live gigs, finding joy every step of the way . This journey has led us to form Ten Speed: Casey Hanson (guitar and vocals), Drew Gilmore (guitar and vocals), Chris Moen (bass), Kyle Corrigan (keys, congas, vocals), and Dave Chvojicek (drums).
Collectively, we have years of experience. From 1997 through 2007, during their college years, Casey, Drew, Chris, and Dave Nielan were The Dirty 5 out of Aberdeen, SD. From 2002 through 2006, Drew, Dave, Gary Johnson, Paul Beckermann, Dale Carlson, and the late and loved Beth Flick (we still miss her!) formed the band Blackboard Jungle out of Cokato, MN. From 2007 through 2013, Casey, Drew, Chris, Dave, and Paul formed Square One. Square One wrote and released an album called Hijackin’ Time, which can be heard on Spotify. From 2015-2021, Casey, Drew, Chris, Kyle, and Paul formed Freeda’s Boss. Paul is currently half of an acoustic duo called the Sundogs. They released an album which can also be found on Spotify (insert link). Dave reunited with the guys in 2022 and we became Ten Speed.
Ten Speed writes and plays originals as well as covers crowd favorites. We are in the process of making a new album. Our sound is best described as Americana. We give jam band songs more structure, pop songs more grit, country songs more rock, rock songs a little twang. We write songs that have a hook and a message. Although none of us are music majors, we practice with intentionality and study to improve our individual crafts. We create a synergy that makes our collective sound better than that of the individual players. We hope we can bring you half as much joy from listening to us as we feel when we’re playing for you.
